In order to work armed security in NJ, you need a Concealed Carry Permit for a handgun (CCW) and the Armed SORA Card. The Armed SORA card alone does not provide authorization to carry a gun or work armed.

Let NJ SORA Professionals, in conjunction with Itjen Shooting Sports, LLC take care of all the requirements needed to work armed security. With the SORA COMPLETE ARMED SECURITY PACKAGE, you will receive the following:

  • Completion of the NJ State Police SORA application and submission of the required license fee
  • Booking of your fingerprint appointment for the SORA license
  • Enrollment in the required 24-hour SORA training course

We will also help you get all the necessary firearms permits:

  • Completion of the application for the Firearms Purchaser Identification Card (FID card)
  • Completion of the application for the Permit to Purchase a Handgun

Once you obtain your FID card and purchase a handgun (you must own your own handgun to apply for a Concealed Carry Permit – CCW), you will have access to a private gun range in Sussex County where you will receive the following training as well as completion of the State Police application and uploading of all necessary forms:

  • Civilian Carry Assessment and Range Evaluation course of fire training (CCARE)
  • Use of Force training
  • Firearms Safety and Awareness

The applicant will be responsible for submission of certain fees to the NJ State Police and/or their local police department for the firearms permits and will also need to be fingerprinted separately for the FID card. The applicant must also supply their own ammunition for the qualifications unless they wish to purchase it from the pistol range. All additional costs will be provided to the applicant in the package terms and conditions document.
